And what is here said of false Prophets can also be understood of all who say one thing in word and manner and another in deed. Yet it seems to be said more particularly of heretics, who are seen to close themselves with continence and fasting as with a sort of garb piety, but inwardly their spirit is poison; and so the hearts of simpler brother and are deceived.
